Status Roadmap Consideration

Castellan - Edited Documents and BIA's automatically changes the status 'draft'

pre-approved plans and BIAs do not automatically go into draft status but remain "Approved", we would like to see that changed to when an approved document gets edited in any way it automatically changes the status to 'draft'

this helps with ongoing auditing trails etc

I agree about haaving a different status to draft when amending a BIA but I think there also needs to be away for the BIA to be returned to Approved if the changes are minor - without the full approval process being used, as some changes are significant and others may only be minor.

May I suggest a possible path for development be that rather than re-using the Draft status there be a new status perhaps called something like "Revising" that simultaneously indicates there is an approved version in existence and there is a revision underway. To me I prefer to think of Draft as indicative of it's initial authorship state, and Revising indicating a later change is coming. Not sure if this will be easier or harder to implement but either way hoping this leaves the notion there is more than one way to solve this, hopefully leading to this being addressed. The current state leads to confusion over what is really currently going on and to needing a separate tracker for documents currently undergoing their refresh cycle rather than using a built-in dashboard.

To add to this - I received the same request from a large client requesting that the site would have a option to allow for documents and BIAs to move to draft when certain sections are modified.
